WAs hunting in a orange grove when the dogs struck off the buggy and crossed a canal, then there was silence for 5 minutes or so until we heard the first bark. The dogs had one bayed at 400 yards so we had go to about a mile around to get to them and by the time we got there he was plenty rested and broke as soon as we pulled up. we could tell by the moon light he was plenty big enough and knew we were in for a long night and the dogs wasnt gonna quit him and he was headed for the reservoir, aka: the land before time. So we pulled up to the reservoir and sat there waited for about 30 minutes until we finally heard the dogs start up again and headed in on foot for about 200 yards and thru 2 waist deep water ditches , finally we reached the hog after plowing thru 100 yards of myrtle trees too what seemed like a flag pond with just a few trees, we were within 30 yards when we let the catch dog go and all heck broke loose but we were right there behind the catch dog till we seen what the dogs were in. It was a little pond with lilly pads and all kind of vegatation growing around it and little red eyes every where scurying to the sides, we hit the brakes and said hold up " gator hole". after a quick evaluation i went in up to my chest with silt up to my sack and grabbed the tail of the big barr and pulled him to help. The bank kept giving way due to the clayish mud but we got him up and hobbled him. after what seemed like forever trying to decide what to do to get him to the buggy with a few arguments and fist fights we decided to drag him out to the main highway wich was 120 yards and just pick him up from there. Dogs had a few cuts but nothing serious. happy hunting.
